Adam Sandler was born Sept. 9, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York, and began performing stand-up comedy as a teenager.
After joining “Saturday Night Live” as a writer and cast member, his songs and characters made him a fan favorite. Sandler turned that success into a string of hit comedies including “Billy Madison,” “Happy Gilmore,” “The Waterboy” and “The Wedding Singer,” eventually forming his production company, Happy Madison.
While best known for comedy, performances in “Punch-Drunk Love,” “Uncut Gems” and “Hustle” earned praise for his range. His movies have grossed billions worldwide, making him one of Hollywood’s most successful comedy stars.
